Purposeful Pretirement

Dec 30, 2014

I have brought myself by long meditation to the conviction that a human being with a settled purpose must accomplish it, and that nothing can resist a will which will stake even existence upon its fulfillment.- Benjamin Disraeli

When I think of purpose, I think of it as a sense of life-long calling, the kind of thing that family or economic status, gender, race and certainly age cannot detract from. This inner-sense of self is defined as the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists. It’s more than what we DO; it’s who we ARE. It’s what we’ve given ourselves to – our life’s work, knowledge and energy that flow into practice.

We feel there is a greater worth to people than simply, whether or not they have a 9-5 job. We have a sense that an individual’s purpose is what defines their legacy. Retirement isn’t an end; it can actually be a fuller beginning.

Baby Boomers are considered to be the wealthiest, most affluent generation in American history. You’ve battled your way through the high and low of life and find yourselves with the energy and desire to engage and bestow your knowledge and influence to another generation, on your terms.

We’re calling this stage of consideration, “PRETIREMENT” and defining that as Boomers not yet ready to sail into the sunset purposelessly, but rather excited for a new chapter – full of continued passion and engaging work.

As you consider retirement, I challenge you to think of your purpose – that thing that gives you energy and excites your soul. Think of ways to stay engaged in that purpose, regardless of the hours you may or may not spend in an office. We’re excited at WAHVE to give retirement a passionate purpose and we truly believe that your purpose is necessary, vital and an important part of your industry, your community and your family’s success.

Consider PRETIREMENT as a way to more fully live your purpose! Exciting times await.
